Description: Dataset created by Archipelago Marine Research Ltd. A Shore Unit is a section of shore of uniform physical form (e.g. beach) and substrate (e.g. gravel) in the upper and mid-intertidal zone. Shore units were taken from initial shore classification of the harbours area by the BC Land Use Coordination office in 1989 and updated by field observations in 1998 and 2002. _SUINDEX is a number which designates a discrete shore unit. Shore Units are labeled sequentially from Ogden Point, Victoria Harbour counter-clockwise through Victoria Harbour to Macaulay Point, then from Duntze Head, at the east entrance to Esquimalt Harbour, counter-clockwise to Fisgard Island and west through Esquimalt Lagoon.
